Law No. 21 of 2015 regarding the judicial fees in Dubai Courts was just in part amended by the Law No. 7 of 2020. Under the article no. 7 of Law No. 7 of 2020, when registering a case with the Centre for Amicable Settlement of Disputes, 50 percent of the court fee has to be paid. If the parties reach an agreement during the mediation stage at the Center for Amicable Settlement of Dispute, the upfront payment of a 50 percent fee will be refunded. In case the parties do not reach a settlement, and the case will be taken further to the Court, the remaining 50 percent will be paid upon registration of the case with the Court.
Another update as per Law No. 7 of 2020 is that anyone appealing a penal action will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of 500 dirhams for any misdemeanor. For any violations committed at the Court's treasury, the individual appealing must pay a non-refundable deposit of 200 dirhams.
